Is the Trigun series going to be making a return with a new anime? On June 16, a new Twitter account named “$$6,000,000 Bounty” ($$6,000,000の賞金首) posted a single image of what appears to be a wanted dead or alive poster that was mostly torn up, with an illustrated character obscured and a price of 6,000,000 dollars on their head. The image has the number 6.17 carved inside of it, teasing more information on June 17.
Could this be a revival of the series, or a prequel of Trigun when Vash’ bounty was worth less? Find out what I have dug up and the clues from the poster below, from the people that follow the account to the news from another anime studio that could coincide with this teaser.
▍The Followers
The most striking clues involving this teaser, are the two accounts that follow @6MillionBounty, and retweeted the post, @YKOURS and @FUDE0415. @YKOURS is the official Twitter account of Shonengahosha’s Young King Ours magazine which published the Trigun Maximum Manga. While @FUDE0415 belongs to Yoshiyuki Fudetani, the editor of Trigun, as well as the producer for the 2010 film, Trigun: Badlands Rumble.
Typically corporate accounts and known users that follow a brand new account, do so already knowing when the account will be made and do it for promotional purposes, or verification like when Togashi’s new Twitter account was followed by several manga authors. While this is far from undeniable proof, I believe these two clues help to paint a bigger picture of what the 6 million bounty poster could be leading up to, and I’m not even done yet.
▍Orange Studios’ New Production and Leakers
On June 13, a user on ResetEra and several other websites, posted that the latest animation project to be handled by Orange Animation Studios is going a new Trigun anime series. Orange Studio is known for its work on anime such as Black Bullet, Norn 9, Beastars, and Godzilla Singular Pilot.
This coincides with Orange Studio’s announcement on June 11 that they had a new animation project in the works, and would be revealed in 6 days’ time. The studio also posted a project animation countdown, for an announcement coming in two days, coinciding with the date on the six million bounty poster.
With some of this in mind, we will just have to wait until June 17 to figure out what the 6 million bounty poster is, but my bet is on a possible new anime for Trigun, as a prequel to Vash’ adventures before he became the 60 billion dollar man.
▍About Trigun
Trigun is a manga series written and illustrated by Yasuhiro Nightow, who also later worked on games like Gungrave, and the manga Blood Blockade Battlefront (Kekkai Sensen). The series is set on the fictional planet called No Man’s Land, and follows the story of Vash the Stampede, an inhumanly powerful, yet immensely kind young man who is constantly sought after for his 60 billion dollar bounty. Despite that he lives on and travels the world, saving people without violence, inspired by the words of his beloved mother to never harm a soul again.
The series was adapted into a 26-episode anime tv series and had a movie adaptation in 2010 called Trigun: Badlands Rumble
