Virtual Singer extraordinaire Hatsune Miku is getting an unusual collaboration in the form of a… Tamagotchi!? Bandai Namco has collaborated with the world-famous synth voice bank to bring you a pocket device where you as the caretaker, will play minigames, feed, and discover time-specific events to unlock costumes as well as other Vocaloid friends in a little virtual pet simulator!
As part of the Hatsune Miku franchise’s 15th anniversary, Bandai Namco Group’s Official Online Store Front, Premium Bandai has announced its newest addition, “Piapro Characters × Tamagotchi – Hatsune Mikutchi” will roll out with two variants being priced at JPY$2,860 each, with pre-orders available as of July 14.
▍Hatsune Miku Tamagotchi Preview
The pocket-sized devices come in two different color variations with the Cute Miku Version and the Cyber Miku Version. With the “Cute Miku Version” colored turquoise and white, decorated with a retro touch, printed on the device are 8bit renders of Miku along with related imageries like her leek and musical notes. The blue-green and black “Cyber Miku Version” on the other hand, is adorned with a darker cyan coloration with motifs of her hairbands decorating the device.
▍Taking Care of Your Very Own Vocaloid Singers
Take care of Miku in your very own Tamagotchi by feeding her musical notes and playing mini-games with her in order to unlock new outfits, which are all inspired by the phenomenal Magical Mirai performances she appeared in. Aside from acquiring new fashion pieces for herself, Miku can invite her other Vocaloid friends over such as Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, Meiko, and Kaito. Change up how you take care of your own very own Miku to find them all. Along with the six available characters and many outfits, there are two secret costumes that require specific requirements to unlock. Try your hand at unlocking them!
Each device comes with 3 mini-games built in for you to take care of Miku. The “Vocal Lesson” minigame that has you tap on the buttons displayed on the screen to get Miku to sing in tune, a “Music Note Catching” game, and a “Stage Mini Game” which can only be played at specific times of the day (13:00~15:00 or 18:00~21:00) just like the real live event. The minigames also feature characters such as Tako Luka, Hachune Miku, and Yuki Miku that show up at different times of the day. Just make sure you don’t leave Miku alone for too long since she might just uninstall herself and poof away.

Along with the two standard colorations, there will also be a limited quantity of special color variations, the translucent Future Miku Version Tamagotchi comes in a clear blue coloration as well as a uniquely designed box packaging!
