HBO Shares First Footage of The Last of Us TV Show

HBO released a trailer showing all the stuff coming to HBO Max in the coming year, including a twenty-second footage of the previously announced The Last Of Us live-action drama.

Though this twenty-second isn’t much, it does show off some scenes with Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, and Nick Offerman’s Bill. A scene that seemed to recall the opening sequence of the first game with Joel’s daughter is also shown.

The show—reported to be the largest TV production to have ever been filmed in Canada—was written and produced by Naughty Dog’s co-president Neil Druckmann, along with Craig Mazin, who was previously the writer and producer on HBO’s highly acclaimed miniseries Chernobyl.

The series will also star Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Anna Torv as Tess. The Last of Us will feature 10 episodes in its first season. There’s been no official announcement of a second season.

About The Last of Us

The Last of Us is a 2013 action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game received critical acclaim, with praise for its narrative, gameplay, visuals, sound design, score, characterization, and depiction of female characters. It became one of the best-selling video games, selling over 1.3 million units in its first week and 17 million by April 2018. The game won year-end accolades, including multiple Game of the Year awards, from several gaming publications, critics, and game award ceremonies. It has been cited as one of the greatest video games ever made.

The video game follows Joel and Ellie as they make their way through the post-apocalyptic United States that’s been ravaged by a mysterious disease that transforms people into dangerous monsters. Along the way, they meet all kinds of characters, some friendly, and many others that are just as dangerous as the infected they’re running from.
