MAPPA announced on Saturday that Ren Eguchi’s Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill light novel series is receiving an anime adaptation. It will premiere on Tokyo TV and other channels in January 2023.
Kiyoshi Matsuda is directing the anime at MAPPA. Michiko Yokote is overseeing the series scripts, and Nao Ōtsu is adapting Masa’s original character designs for animation. Masato Kōda, Kana Utatade, and Kuricorder Quartet are composing the music.
Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill is originally a Japanese light novel series written by Ren Eguchi. The series originated on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in January 2016, before being published in print with illustrations by Masa by Overlap beginning in November 2016 under their Overlap Novels imprint.
The story follows Mukouda Tsuyoshi, who was nothing special in modern Japan, so when he was summoned to a world of swordplay and sorcery, he thought he was ready for the adventure of a lifetime. Too bad the kingdom that summoned him only did so by mistake! Not only was he not one of the three summoned heroes, but his stats were laughable compared to theirs.
The only skill Mukoda has is called Online Shopping, which lets him order items from another world to this isekai! But little does he know, those foods grant insane stats. And so the journey begins as he gets lots of repeat customers just yearning to eat his food.
