Go Nagai’s (永井豪) robot manga Mazinger Z (マジンガーZ) has announced the latest anime film of the same title would be released on 13rd January next year in Japan. The announcement was made in a teaser video released today (11th July).
The film tells the story 10 years later than that of the TVanime. After the world has had peace restored, protagonist Koji Kabuto becomes a scientist like his grandfather and father. Yet, the life signals emitted by mysterious life forms deep down Mount Fuji drives him to steer his Mazinger Z again. The cast for main characters Koji Kabuto and Sayaka Yumi will be Showtaro Morikubo and Ai Kayano respectively.
Singer Ichirou Mizuki will also return to the series to perform the opening song after his theme song for the TV anime in 1972.
