The official Twitter account for the Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari anime announced that it’s getting a second season in July, and released a brief teaser hinting at what’s to come.
The announcement came shortly after the first season’s finale, which aired on March 28, 2023. The first season began on January 10 and ran for 12 consecutive episodes, and is being produced by Bandai Namco Pictures. The same staff and cast members from the first season are returning for season 2.

The series centers around spirits that cross over into the human world, they can possess old objects and gain physical forms, and become known as Tsukumogamis. Tsukumogamis can be gentle, violent, or somewhere in-between, so the Saenome clan peacefully helps send them back to the spirit world before they can cause any harm to human society.
Enter Hyouma Kunato, a clan member who holds a special grudge against Tsukumogamis that robbed him of something important. Afraid that Hyouma’s brash anger in dealing with these spirits will lead to supernatural catastrophes, Hyouma’s grandfather sends him to live in Kyoto with Botan Nagatsuki, an unusual young woman who actually lives with a family of Tsukumogami!
