It has been some time since Sega teased the upcoming Yakuza spin-off Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name and it was finally confirmed on today’s Summer Game Fest that it will arrive on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on November 9, retailing at US$49.99.
Pre-orders of the game are also available today and those who do so can receive the “Legendary Fighter Pack”, which includes characters Daigo Dojima, Goro Majima, and Taiga Saejima as bonus boss battles.
Described as a more compact return to the action gameplay of previous games in the series, the game will follow series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu and explain what happened to him in the gap between Yakuza 6 and Like a Dragon 8. Kiryu, a former yakuza who faked his own death and renounced his name to protect his family. However, a mysterious adversary lures him out of hiding, and he is compelled to confront the conflict under the codename “Joryu”. This sets the stage for a gripping narrative filled with electrifying combat and a multitude of engaging characters and activities.

With the Yakuza style, players can deliver wildly aggressive moves, tapping into Kiryu’s unmatched strength and flair. The Agent style ramps up the action with rapid, precise strikes and high-tech gadgets like electrified bind wires.
Beyond combat, the game offers a diverse range of experiences for players. From brawling in the secret Castle arena, singing karaoke, enjoying a drink at the live-action cabaret club, to racing in the pocket circuit, there’s no shortage of immersive activities. In addition, an enigmatic character named Akame will provide intriguing sub-missions, leading to an epic showdown unfolding across Sotenbori, Yokohama, and the mysterious Castle.
