It was announced that the television anime adaptation of Yūgo Aosaki’s Undead Girl Murder Farce mystery novel will premiere on July 5, 2023. Along with the announcement, the key visual, the main promotional video, and the opening and ending theme songs were also revealed.
Set in the tail-end of the 19th century, Undead Girl Murder Farce revolves around a detective, known as the “cage user”, who is brought in to unravel the murder of the vampire’s wave. However, there’s more to the detective and the draped birdcage he carries than meets the eye. As Aya Rindō, the beautiful bodiless immortal detective, navigates through a Europe filled with vampires, werewolves, the legendary thief Lupin, Sherlock Holmes, Jack the Ripper, and other legendary figures, she solves many cases while on a mysterious trip to recover her stolen body.
The unveiled trailer presents a glimpse of the opening theme song “Crack-Crack-Crackle” by Korean girls’ group CLASS:y, and the ending theme song “reversal” by Japanese pop singer-songwriter Anna.
CLASS:y, in charge of the OP theme, expressed their excitement as it was their first time being in charge of an anime theme song. They promised to put extra effort into recording the song to ensure it complements perfectly the series.
Anna shared her surprise and joy at being chosen, saying she was so happy that she cried. The song “reversal” fits perfectly with the resourceful “cage user,” as she stated, and also expressed her hope that it will encourage those who never want to lose.
