To commemorate the anime’s 25th anniversary, Yu Yu Hakusho (幽☆遊☆白書) previously announced a new OVA to be sold as a bundle with the coming blu-ray box set. Today, the new work is confirmed to be two separate episodes called Two Shots and Noruka Soruka.
Two Shots, as already suggested by the new anime visual above, is about how Hiei meets Kurama in the manga’s volume 7, while Noruka Soruka covers everything starting from the manga’s volume 19.
Director Abe Noriyuki, who worked on the long-running Yu Yu Hakusho TV anime, has returned to make these two episodes at Studio Pierrot. They will be sold on 26th October 2018 along with blu-ray box volume 4.
Yu Yu Hakusho, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi (冨樫 義博), ran on Weekly Shonen Jump between 1990 and 1994. The TV anime adaption aired for two years starting 1992. The story follows Yusuke Urameshi, a 14 year old rebel who dies after being hit by a car while trying to save a kid. The underworld has never foreseen Yusuke’s sudden death at all, and as a result there is no place to accommodate his spirit. This grants him a chance to return to his body. After that, Yusuke becomes an underworld detective and investigates supernatural phenomenons that occur in the human world.
A mobile game is also in development at KLab as a part of the 25th anniversary celebration.
