The third season of Free! will air in July 2018. The first teaser video and poster are now released.
It has been four year since the second season came out, and it has been some time since the high school swimmers entered college. The new season Free!-Dive to the Future- is going to focus on the boys’ college life, which is also hinted by Haruka Nanase’s university jersey.
The anime is now being directed by Free!’s long-term director Eisaku Kawanami at Kyoto Animation.
The series is based off Kaji Oji’s (おおじ こうじ) light novel High☆Speed!. Haruka Nanase, Makoto Tachibana, Rin Matsuoka, and Nagisa Hazuki used to be teammates in their elementary school’s swimming club. With the additional new member Rei Ryugazaki, the boys begin swimming together again. The first TV anime aired in 2013 while the second season aired in 2014.
