Four main cast members for coming TV anime series [New Life+] Young Again in Another World (二度目の人生を異世界で) have decided to quit the project after the recent controversy concerning the creator.

[New Life+] Young Again in Another World

The voice actors involved are the voices for the protagonist and main characters. They are: Toshiki Masuda (as Renya Kunugi), Kiyono Yasuno (as Shion Femme-Fatale) , Megumi Nakajima (as Rona Chevalier), and Nanami Yamashita (as God). Their departure were announced earlier today by their respective agency, but no exact reason was mentioned.

[New Life+] Young Again in Another World is originally a light novel series written by Mine (まいん). The novel itself has long been a controversy as well as a banned publication in China, as the main character is said to have killed 3,000 Chinese in a war during 1940s – which is generally believed to be Japan’s invasion and the Nanking Massacre in China in the Second Sino-Japanese War.

The more recent controversy that makes the cast quit is the author’s hate speech against China and Korea made between 2012 and 2014. Mine posted a number of tweet on twitter to defend Japan’s invasion in China and call Korea a “姦国 (lit: rape country)”. These posts were found by Twitter user  on 31st May.

There is no replacement for the voice actors yet. The anime is scheduled for release in October 2018.

UPDATE

Mine has just made a formal apology for his past actions. The Shosetsuka ni Naro novel publishing site will take away his column and the novel itself will get new versions with multiple amendments. The author’s twitter is going to be shut down after deleting the tweets involved in this controversy.

New announcement was made at 22:00 6th June (JST): the anime production is halted.
