Shota & Shotacon
Quite a while ago, we talked about Loli and Lolicon. So this time, we’ll talk about Shota and Shotacon. Whilst Loli and Lolita revolve around young prepubescent girls, Shota and Shotacon revolve around young prepubescent boys.
▍Shota
Shota, is the boy equivalent of Loli, young prepubescent boy character types who often have a cuter and moe aspect to their appearance and personality. The term originates Shotaro, a character from Tetsujin 28-go.
▍Shotacon
Shota + Complex. Pretty much the same as Lolicon, except shotacon are attracted to little boys.
▍For Men vs. For Women
Shotacon stories aren’t exclusively Yaoi by nature. Majority of Shotacon content made for women is int he form of Yaoi. Whilst not always, the CP in these works would feature an older male with a shota character.
Shotacon made for men generally have a much wider scope. Heterosexual relationships, Homosexual relationships, Older partner x shota, and even loli x shota, it’s all there. Perhaps even due to the influence of Lolicon, there are also many Shotacon works where shota characters are cross-dressed into little girls.
