[Qoo Review] Death is a Relief: Review on TV Anime “To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts” EP3

Another enjoyable episode this week from “To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts” (かつて神だった獣たちへ) and this time Hank faces a new comrade, who is still trapped in the shadow of war.

Hank’s journey of “beast hunting” is joined by Shaal, who keeps wondering why Hank has to start the hunt at the very first beginning. You may say that she was too naive to think that Hank should try to convince the Incarnates not to hurt humans, instead of killing them. But I agree with her viewpoint that the Incarnates have the rights to go back to normal lives.

However, sometimes you just can’t go back. In this episode, the stage is moved to Rouge Hill, which is overrun by the Incarnate, Theo. He has built a massive fortress, resulting in people losing their homes.

According to Hank, Theo is not particularly brave before and is scared to fight the war. But Hank taught him to beat his fear by preparing himself well. It gave Theo the encourage to step on the battlefield. However,  fear holds his back and he still thinks that the war is not over.

It is just sad to watch as Theo builds the fortress to protect himself for the upcoming war, little does he know that his enemies are long gone. Hank gives him the reasons to fight by intruding the fortress. Perhaps it is the only mercy that he can give.

The battle scene is definitely a must-watch. Hank showcases his power for the first time and he is insanely powerful. But as his true power can only be used after dark, I doubt how it could be used during wars.

The death of Theo and his relief again stirs my emotions. I can’t help but sympathize with the situation he has to go through after the wars. What else needs to be sacrificed in order to win the war?

Maybe Theo is right. The war never ends after all. With the rise of a new government and the beasts hidden in the dark, the peaceful days won’t last long.
