Today (27th September), the third season of PSYCHO-PASS (PSYCHO-PASS サイコパス ３) reveals a new PV, main visual and more cast members. The anime is confirmed to air on 17th October.
The PV provides a sneak peak at the anime’s theme songs. The OP, Q-vism, is performed by Who-ya Extended, while ED, bullet, is performed by Cö shu Nie. A special episode will air on 17th October, while the first episode will air on 24th October.
New cast members are also revealed, including Akio Ōtsuka (大塚明夫), Junichi Suwabe (諏訪部順一), Kaori Nazuka (名塚佳織), Takahiro Sakurai (櫻井孝宏), Ayane Sakura (佐倉綾音) Mamoru Miyano (宮野真守), Hiroshi Naka (中博史), Atsuko Tanaka (田中敦子), Yōko Hikasa (日笠陽子), Toshiyuki Morikawa (森川智之), Kenyu Horiuchi (堀内賢雄) and Sayuri Yahagi (矢作紗友里).
▍Story
Psycho-Pass is set in a futuristic era in Japan where the Sibyl System (シビュラシステム), a powerful network of psychometric scanners, actively measures the minds and mentalities of civilised populations using a “cymatic scan” of the brain.
The resulting assessment is called a Psycho-Pass (サイコパス). When the calculated likelihood of an individual committing a crime, measured by the Crime Coefficient (犯罪係数) index, exceeds an accepted threshold, he or she is pursued, apprehended, and killed if necessary by police forces.
Elite officers labelled “Enforcers” are equipped with large handguns called “Dominators”—special weapons that only activate when aimed at suspects with higher-than-acceptable Crime Coefficients. Enforcers are themselves selected for innately high Crime Coefficients, marking them as “latent criminals”; they are overseen by police Inspectors, who have the jurisdiction to shoot them with their Dominators should they pose a danger to the public.
