[Qoo Otaku] Top 10 Anime OP and ED Songs of Fall 2019

0

It is true to say that the theme song for an anime is almost as important as the anime series itself. The songs set the tone, give the feel, and introduces the viewers to what they are getting into.

When I am digging into this fall’s anime, just as I always do, I surprisingly find that there are lots of good anime songs this season! I urge myself to make this list and I hope that you are enjoying these songs as much as I do!

Top 10

“Koukai no Uta” By Sayuri – My Hero Academia ED

19112007092864

The title of the song can be translated as “The Song for Sailing”, depicting the tragic life of one of the key characters for this season’s My Hero Academia, Eri. Her life is changed when she meets the protagonist Izuku Midoriya, who saves her from the villain and gives her hope to start a new journey by herself. The ED animation is also one of the best from the series so far.

“Regeneration” By Sora Amamiya – The Seven Deadly Sins ED

19112007100178

The soft ballad is performed by voice actress, Sora Amamiya, who voiced over the protagonist, Elizabeth Liones in The Seven Deadly Sins. The song is put under the name of Sora Amamiya instead of her character, and she definitely lives up the name as a singer with her angelic voice.

“TIT FOR TAT” By MYTH & ROID – The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious OP

1911200713075 e1574233996146

I am actually surprised by this selection as the theme song of Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious. The heavy metal rock song greatly contrasts with the fun and gag aspect of the anime series. But the contrast certainly draws some attention and differentiates the series from other “isekai” work.

“Magical Babyrinth” By DA PUMP – Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun OP

1911200713427

It is a quick and fun song by Japanese boy band Da Pump, who draws attention in Japan for their happy party songs. The catchy chorus will make you move your body unconsciously. Unfortunately, there is no official MV for this song.

Top 6

“Smile Skill = Suki Skill!” By Akaki Chikai – Didn’t I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!

191120071441100

It is a very cute song performed by the casts of “Didn’t I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!”, including Azumi Waki, Sora Tokui, Fumiko Uchimura and Masumi Tazawa. The bright voice and fun tunes give you energy. The melody is so poisonous that I can’t get it out of head.

“bullet” By Co shu Nie – Psycho-Pass 3 ED

19112007164444

It is another epic song by Co shu Nie after their hit anime songs “Lamp” from The Promised Neverland and “Asphyxia” from Tokyo Ghoul:re Season 1. Again, their song creates a unique feeling, which drags you into the unpredictable universe of Psycho-Pass.

“Phantom Joke” By UNISON SQUARE GARDEN – Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia OP

19112007180850

A fast-paced rock song corresponds to the massive universe of Fate/Grand Order. It was the first time that UNISON SQUARE GARDEN provides songs for the Fate/Grand Order series, but they certainly take the story under consideration when they write the song. The lyrics ‘No, don’t say such sad things The world is still alive” seems to directly come from the protagonist Fujimaru Ritsuka (藤丸立香).

“Polaris” By BLUE ENCOUNT – My Hero Academia S4 OP

19112007082352

This hot-blooded song portrays the determination and unbreakable spirit to protect someone, and it echoes perfectly with the main focus for this season of My Hero Academia. I particularly like the following lyrics: “I decided to protect you from that day and I keep this promise deep in my heart. Though hope is fading, I insist on moving forward.”

Anime fans may recognize BLUE ENCOUNT for performing a number of hit anime songs, including “FREEDOM” from Banana Fish, “Day by Day” and “vs” from Gintama.

“Q-vism” By Who-ya Extended – Psycho-Pass 3 OP

191120071842100

The electronic music and dynamic tunes bring a breath of fresh air. It undoubtedly helps create the suspense environment for Psycho-Pass, which presents a brand-new story differentiated from its last two seasons. I am sure that you will easily get addicted to its fast-paced and catchy melody.

“Unlasting” By LiSA – SAO War of Underworld ED

1911200707482

I literally have goosebumps when I first hear this song. Her voice is so beautiful and melancholic that it breaks my heart. It is not the first time for LiSA to perform the theme songs of Sword Art Online (like “Crossing Field” for season 1 and “Adamas’ for season 3 Part 1), but it is definitely one of her best.

The female singer is really gaining popularity this year, while her last single, “Gurenge” is used as the opening theme for the ongoing hit anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. This song has dominated the Japanese digital music charts upon its release and has seated at No. 1 for two weeks on Oricon’s Weekly Digital Single charts. She is also confirmed to take the stage of 2019 Kōhaku Uta Gassen for the first time.
