Anime adaptation is confirmed for Reiji Miyajima’s (宮島礼吏) manga series “Rent-A-Girlfriend” (彼女、お借りします) and is scheduled to air in July 2020. A key visual, teaser PV and the main cast are also revealed.
The series is animated by TMS Entertainment and directed by “Rainy Cocoa, Welcome to Rainy Color” director Kazuomi Koga (古賀 一臣), with “Digimon Adventure tri” movie series screenplay Mitsutaka Hirota (広田 光毅) handling series composition, Kanna Hirayama (平山寛菜) designing the characters, and Hyadain composing the music.

The manga began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in July 2017 and has been compiled into 12 volumes as of October 2019.

▍Story
When Kazuya Kinoshita (木ノ下 和也) broke up with his girlfriend Mami Nanami (七海麻美) after dating for about a month, he is so depressed that he wants to end his life. He is suggested to use a service to rent a girlfriend named Chizuru Mizuhara (水原千鶴), a beautiful and attractive girl.
However, because she appears to be too perfect and superficial, he gives her a low rating, but then Chizuru scolds him for that and reveals she is meaner than he expected. However, when Kazura’s grandmother collapses in the hospital, he brings her along and the grandmother is smitten with how great she is. Kazuya tries to continue renting Chizuru in order to keep up appearances with his family and friends, but things get complicated when they discover they are next-door apartment neighbors and attend the same college. Later, other girls from the girlfriend business also join in dating and showing interest in Kazuya.
