Original anime film “Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop” (サイダーのように言葉が湧き上がる) reveals a key visual, theme song details and additional cast. It will premiere on 15th May 2020 in Japan.
The project is a 10th-anniversary celebration of Victor Entertainment’s animation and music production subsidiary Flying Dog and is directed by “Your Lie in April” director Kyōhei Ishiguro (石黒 恭平). Signal.MD and Sublimation are in charge of the animation.

Japanese band never young beach performs the film’s theme song, while Taeko Onuki (大貫妙子) also performs the insert song “YAMAZAKURA.”
The “boy-meets-girl” story depicts how words and music bridge the gap between Cherry, a boy who is terrible at communicating with other people, and Smile, a girl who hides behind a mask. They meet in a shopping mall after the whole body of Cherry clashes on Smile by accident.
Cherry always wears headphones and puts the feelings he cannot utter into his hobby, Japanese haiku poems. Smile always wears a mask to conceal her large front teeth, for which she has dental braces. But they gradually become friends after joining hands to search for a lost record for an old man.

Kabuki actor and first-time voice actor Ichikawa Somegorō VIII (市川染五郎 八代目) will voice Cherry and actress Hana Sugisaki (杉咲花) will voice Smile.
Other cast includes Kōichi Yamadera (山寺宏一), Megumi Han (潘惠美), Natsuki Hanae (花江夏樹), Yuichiro Umehara (梅原裕一郎), Megumi Nakajima (中島愛) and Sumire Morohoshi (諸星堇).
Hiroshi Kamiya (神谷浩史) and Maaya Sakamoto (坂本真綾) will join the film’s cast, but the characters are not yet revealed.
