The TV anime adaptation of Kagiji Kumanomata’s (熊之股鍵次) “Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle” (魔王城でおやすみ) comedy manga reveals a teaser video, character visuals and additional cast members. It is set to premiere in 2020.
▍Character Introduction
■ Princess Syalis – CV: Inori Minase (水瀬 いのり)
She is the princess of the Unified Human Nation of Goodereste and was kidnapped by the Demon King to make the kingdom fear him. She is a total sleepyhead, and would do anything possible to find a good place to sleep, even confronting demons if is necessary.
■ Demon King Tasogare – CV: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (松岡禎丞)
He is the lord of the Demon Castle who kidnapped Princess Syalis. He kidnapped Syalis in her sleep, so he has hardly ever seen her awake and has never had a proper conversation with her. He is shown to be very malevolent on the outside, he in reality is very worrywart.
■ Demon Cleric – CV: Kaito Ishikawa (石川界人)
He is one of the Ten Greatest Demons and the one in charge of the Demon Temple. He can use magic to resurrect anyone who happens to die in the Demon Castle.
▍Story
A captured princess just wants a good night’s sleep!
Imprisoned in the castle of the Demon King, all spoiled-sweet Princess Syalis dreams of is a good night’s sleep! Shhh…
Kidnapped by the Demon King and imprisoned in his castle, Princess Syalis is…bored.
She decides to wait while sleeping, but getting a good night’s rest turns out to be a lot of work! She begins by fashioning a DIY pillow out of the fur of her Teddy Demon guards and an “air mattress” from the magical Shield of the Wind. The princess’s hapless demonic guards soon discover that their captive expects to be treated like, well, a princess. Things go from bad to worse—for her captors—when some of Princess Syalis’s schemes end in her untimely—if temporary—demise and she chooses the Forbidden Grimoire for her bedtime reading…
▍Staff and Production
The anime is directed by “Tada Never Falls in Love” director Mitsue Yamazaki (山崎 光恵) and animated by Doga Kobo (動画工房). “Shin chan” scriptwriter Yoshiko Nakamura (中村 能子) is in charge of series composition. “How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?” Ai Kikuchi (菊池 愛) is handling character designs.
