The TV anime adaptations of Kozue Amano’s (天野こずえ) fantasy manga “Aria” (アリア) announces a brand new project for this winter to celebrate the anime’s 15th anniversary.

The project’s format (whether it will be a TV anime series, OVA or anime film) is not yet revealed and further announcement will be made in the official website and Twitter later.

Rina Satou (佐藤利奈) is confirmed to take the role of Athena Glory, replacing the late Tomoko Kawakami (川上とも子) from the previous anime series.

About “Aria”

Written and illustrated by Kozue Amano, “Aria” was originally titled “Aqua” (アクア, Akua) when it was published by Enix in the magazine Monthly Stencil. It was later retitled when it moved to Mag Garden’s magazine Comic Blade. The series has been adapted as an anime television series, with a first season broadcast in 2005, a second season in 2006, an OVA released September 2007, and a third season in 2008 that ended around the same time as the manga serialization.

An OVA, called “Aria the Avvenire, was also released in the 10th anniversary Blu-Ray Box sets of the anime series between 24th December 2015 and 24th June 2016.

The story is set in the 24th century on a terraformed Mars, now named Aqua, and follows a young woman named Akari Mizunashi as she trains as an apprentice gondolier (known as Undines), who navigates the canals of the Aquan city of Neo-Venezia.
