Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA), the organizer of Tokyo Game Show, today (8th May) announces that this year’s event will be canceled due to the concerns of COVID-19.
The convention is originally scheduled for 24th to 27th September 2020 at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Tokyo. The organizers are considering holding the event online, but details are not yet confirmed.

Due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on a global scale and the situation remains unpredictable in Japan as well, the organizer and the co-organizers have reached this decision after a long consideration to place the utmost priority on the health and safety of visitors, exhibitors, and stakeholders. More information will be announced as needed on the official website in late May.
This is the first time that TGS has ever been canceled since it started in 1996. Also, other international anime and game conventions, including E3 and PAX East, are also canceled.
