[Qoo News] “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” Manga Ends, New Spin-Off Manga Centers on Kyojuro Rengoku

Koyoharu Gotouge’s (吾峠呼世晴) “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” (鬼滅の刃) manga ends in the 24th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, which is published today (18th May). A special illustration is posted on the official Twitter, sharing the most memorable lines from the series.

A short spin-off manga titled Kimetsu no Yaiba: Rengoku Gaiden (鬼滅の刃 煉獄外伝), illustrated by Ryōji Hirano (平野稜二) was also announced and it will center on Kyōjurō Rengoku (煉獄杏寿郎). The release date of the manga is not yet confirmed.

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” started serialization in February 2016 and has run for 4 years and 3 months. As of May 2020, twenty volumes have been released. The manga recorded over 60 million copies in circulation, including digital versions, making it one of the best-selling manga series.

Weekly Shonen Jump is also offering a reprinted manuscript of the final chapter. The B5-size manuscript will include a reprinting of the 21 black-and-white and two-color pages from the final chapter in a manuscript envelope, which costs JPY$3,850 (about US$36).

An anime television series adaptation by Ufotable aired in Japan from 6th April to 28th September 2019. A sequel film, “Demon Slayer: Infinity Train” (鬼滅の刃 無限列車編), will open in Japan on 16th October 2020.
