Sōsuke Tōka’s “Ōsama Ranking” (王様ランキング) fantasy comedy manga is confirmed to inspire a TV anime adaptation for October 2021. The anime will be a work celebrating the 10th anniversary of Wit Studio.
▍About the Series
Created by Sōsuke Tōka, “Ōsama Ranking” is originally a web manga that has been serializing on the user-submitted manga website Manga Hack since May 2017. Kadokawa published the eighth compiled book volume in August and the ninth volume is set to release on 11th December 2020. The manga series has been published for over 1 million copies.
The story centers around Bojji, a deaf, powerless prince who cannot even wield a children’s sword. As the firstborn son, he strives hard and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest king. However, people mutter about him behind his back as “a good-for-nothing prince” and “no way he can be king.”
It follows Bojji’s coming-of-age as he meets various people in his life, starting with his fateful encounter with Kage, a literal shadow on the ground who somehow understands Bojji well.
