Created under supervision by Gosho Aoyama and illustrated by Takahiro Arai, the manga is a prequel that focuses on Rei Furuya’s formative years at the police academy, before he crossed paths with Conan as the double-agent Bourbon and was still honing his skills as a detective.

The manga ran for 13 chapters in 2020 and has different arcs centering Jinpei Matsuda, Wataru Date, Kenji Hagiwara, and Hiromitsu Morofushi. Shogakukan collected its chapters in two tankōbon volumes, released on November 18 and December 18, 2020.

The main Detective Conan manga, also known as Case Closed, is currently celebrating its 100 tankōbon volumes and will reveal details about the 100 volume project on Weekly Shōnen Sunday published today on August 4.
