The TV anime adaptation of Natsuki Takaya’s Fruits Basket manga revealed a new teaser trailer and key art for its upcoming Fruits Basket -prelude- compilation film. The film will open in Japanese theaters on February 18 , 2022.
The film centers on the backstory of Tohru’s parents: Kyoko (CV:Miyuki Sawashiro) and Katsuya (CV:Yoshimasa Hosoya), which was not included in the anime adaptation. It also includes exclusive new scenes written by the manga author specifically for the film, depicting the events take place after the story of the anime adaptation.
The key art displays young Tohru with her parents, with a phrase that reads “I want to cry for you, so you can be happy.”
