Genshin Impact Guide – How to Build Raiden Shogun

0

Genshin Impact has begun the rerun banner of Raiden Shogun, one the most popular character of the Inazuma lineup, in its recent 2.5 Update from March 8 to March 29. What’s a better time to check our recommended builds for this Electro Archon-sama?

Raiden Shogun, or Baal, is a character that is crazily popular among players. In fact, her debut banner was so successful that it was the best-selling Genshin Impact character banner with the high revenu. But this does not surprise much players, considering how good she is.

This Genshin Impact Guide will teach you how Raiden Shogun performs in battle, as well as understanding the different team that she fits in. An artifact building guide is also included.

About Raiden Shogun

Raiden Shogun, or perhaps you might know her by the name “Baal” is the Electro Archon that oversees the land of Inazuma, unlike the other Archons Venti and Zhongli, who instead have given away her power. She wields a Polearm, and is generally used as an Element Trigger or Sub DPS in most team compositions.

One of her best skills is Transcendence: Baleful Omen, which will apply a chakra circle to her and also other party members if you switch to them. For each hit a character does, an Electro hit will attack the enemy in succession. This can make for some fun matchups that use Electro, such as Electro-Charged and Overloaded.

Recommended Party

When considering a party for Raiden Shogun, there are several things that you have to know. Raiden Shogun can provide stable Energy with her Elemental Burst and consistent Electro status with her skill, making her a great support for characters that deals powerful Burst Damage.

Her Elemental Skill also grants a powerful buff that increases the damage of the Elemental Burst of the character you are using.

The Raiden National Team

This the most popular team, commonly dubbed by fans as the Raiden National Team. The reason that why it is so popular is because except Raiden Shogun, you only need 4★ units to complete the team. The idea here is to make Xingqiu and Bennett support you, and Xiangling support her Burst off field while her Burst is active (since it will stay even after she’s switched.)

Elemental Reaction Party #1 (Overloaded)

In the Elemental Reaction Party, Raiden Shogun will be the Main DPS, and the main idea here is to maximize her Electro damage by reacting with different elements. This first one takes advantage of the Overloaded reaction, and take benefit from Kujou Sara’s Electro DMG bonus. Also, you need trigger Xiangling’s Pyronado before Raiden Shogun trigger hers.

Elemental Reaction Party #2 (Electro-Charged)

This is practically the same party as the previous one, except that this time, we’re replacing Xiangling with Xingqiu. Xingqiu’s Guhua Swords will provide the Hydro reaction necessary for Electro Charged. Kujou Sara once again will be boosting our damage with her passives.

Personal’s Favourite Party

This is the party I commonly run with Raiden Shogun. It has some of the ideas of the previous parties combined. Bennett provides the much needed support, while Kazuha’s abilities reduce the enemies’s Elemental Resistance. In conjunction with Tartaglia’s Hydro Damage, you are recommended to use Raiden Shogun’s Baleful Omen to make Hydro and Electro react together.

Best Weapon

Out of the huge amount of polearms in Genshin Impact, there’s three weapons that you can use with Raiden Shogun:

Engulfing Lightning

Engulfing Lightning can increase Attack by 28% of Energy Recharge over the base 100%, for a maximum bonus of 80% ATK. And you’ll also gain a 30% boost to Energy Recharge for 12s after using an Elemental Burst.

Raiden Shogun relies HEAVILY on Energy Recharge due to her passives, so this weapon basically resonates with her passives in a level that words fail to describe. Truly, the weapon was made for her.

The Catch

The Catch is the best freely obtainable weapon, which can increase Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Burst DMG by 16% and her Elemental Burst CRIT Rate by 6%. The Catch can only be obtained from the Fishing Association in Inazuma region. Players must trade Rusty Koi x 20, Golden Koi x 20 and Raimei Angelfish x 6 for the weapon.

Consequently, in order to increase this weapon’s power, players must refine it using the Ako’s Sake Vessel. For each Vessel, you’ll need to trade Raimei Angelfish x 3, Pufferfish x 10 and Bitter Pufferfish x 10. Four vessels are required in total.

Skyward Lance

While not a total replacement to The Catch or Engulfing Lightning, the Skyward Lance is capable of increasing the CRIT Rate by 8%, while increasing Normal ATK SPD by 12%. Furthermore, Normal and Charged Attacks have a 50% chance to trigger a vacuum blade that deals 40% of ATK as DMG in a small AoE.

If you happen to have this lance lying around and don’t want to grind for all those fishes required for The Catch, the Skyward Lance is a good replacement, although it should not be treated as the best weapon for Raiden Shogun.

Best Artifact Set

The best artifact set for Raiden Shogun is the Emblem of Severed Fate set. This set increases Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of Energy Recharge. A maximum of 75% bonus DMG can be obtained in this way.

The Emblem of Severed Fate can be found on the Momiji-Dyed Court domain, pictured below:

Artifacts are divided into one main stat and four sub-stats. Listing all of them would make this guide rather long, but just keep in mind the following main stats are recommended:

■ Goblets: Electro DMG%

■ Sand / Hourglass: Energy Recharge% to grant bonuses from her passives.

■ Hat / Crown, either Crit Rate / Crit Damage

■ Feather / Flower, Crit Rate and Crit Damage on their substats, due to how the feather is locked with flat ATK, and the flower is locked with a flat HP boost.

You might be wondering like I was initially on just why you need SO much Energy Recharge on her. Well, there’s a good reason for that: Her Enlightened One Passive Skill basically converts all of the excess Energy Recharge (over the base 100%) and converts it into Electro-DMG.

For each 1% above 100% Energy Recharge that the Raiden Shogun possesses, she gets 0.6% greater Energy restoration from Musou Isshi and a 0.4% boost Electro DMG Bonus, with…no limit. Yeah you heard that right: The more you can stack, the bigger her boost: There is no limit to how far you can push it.
