Netflix Announces New Junji Ito Horror Anime Series

Netflix announced on today’s Netflix Geeked Week 2022 that it will be holding a big name project joining hands with horror manga creator Junji Ito. The anime series distributed exclusively worldwide on Netflix in 2023 is titled Junji Ito: Maniac.

Based on the concepts of madness and maniac, the anime series will feature anime adaptations of 20 select titles from Ito’s works, including his best-known works such as Hanging Blimp, Tomie, and Soichi. The specific date of such works will be announced at a later date.

Netflix also revealed an interview video with the creator, who stated: “I cannot wait to see how their creativity will lead my characters into this eerie world”. He also talks about the story behind the creation of each character and the setting of this compilation and expresses that he is excited to work with Netflix on this project.
