Strategic gameplay may have been Yostar\u2019s claim to fame, but Aether Gazer<\/a><\/strong> does not disappoint as their first entry into the action RPG genre. The closed beta test of the game delivers a wonderful experience that aspires to the sci-fi aesthetic, bringing a polished UI, smooth transitions between combat, and beautiful CGs that set the tone for what players can expect going into this title. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u258d<\/strong><\/span>A Story of Recovering From the Brink of Ruin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Aether Gazer introduces the player to a brief history of the last remnants of the planet, and how a huge-scaled war known simply as \u201cThe Disaster\u201d brought humanity to extinction. With no other choice, the survivors of the event were forced to upload their consciousness to the digital network Gaea to live on in a virtual recreation of their world prior to the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To protect the last bastion of humanity, Gaea\u2019s self-check program created the organization AetherGazer. Taking on the role of AetherGazer\u2019s administrator, the player coordinates with specialized computer programs known as \u2018Modifiers\u2019 to combat Visbanes, monsters that threaten the integrity of Gaea with mindless instinct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A simple search-and-destroy mission leads rookie Modifier Verthandi and her allies Zenkibo and Poseidon to the Source Layer, the home of the Visbanes and a perpetual thorn in the side. Without a way to destroy or seal off the Source Layer without damaging Gaea, the plot\u2019s mystery revolves around finding a way to overcome this issue while investigating the sudden spike of Visbane attacks within secure areas of Gaea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closed beta of Aether Gazer features only five chapters, but every story segment features full Japanese voice acting for every character on the screen except for the Admin, whose identity is left to the player\u2019s interpretation. The story fights aren\u2019t too difficult on Normal, so even players with underdeveloped Modifiers or who are new to the action RPG genre won\u2019t struggle too much. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, Aether Gazer lacks the option to replay the story, so any players who took a break and want to refresh themselves on the most recent events will find that they\u2019re out of luck. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u258d<\/strong><\/span>Blitz Through Your Enemies as a Team<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In Aether Gazer, combat happens in real time where the player controls a single character to defeat any enemies they face. Each Modifier has access to a melee or ranged attack, three skills that comprise the core of the character\u2019s mechanics, and an Ultimate Skill that can turn the tide in battle. Racking up a combo is the key to success, significantly boosting your Attack and letting you bring pain to your foes! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
