The brand-new anime of Reiko Yoshida and Mia Ikumi’s \u201cTokyo Mew Mew\u201d (\u6771\u4eac\u30df\u30e5\u30a6\u30df\u30e5\u30a6)<\/a> manga is confirmed to debut in 2022 during the live-streamed “Tokyo Mew Mew New Anime News & Cast Unit Unveiling Online Event ‘1st MEW\u25bdting'” on 22nd February. A teaser visual and the main staff are also revealed.<\/p>\n

\"\u6771\u4eac\u55b5\u55b5<\/p>\n

The TV anime titled \u201cTokyo Mew Mew New\u201d (\u6771\u4eac\u30df\u30e5\u30a6\u30df\u30e5\u30a6 \u306b\u3085\uff5e\u2661) is directed by \u201cAria the Crepuscolo\u201d director Takahiro Natori and animated by Yumeta Company and Graphinica. \u201cMiss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid\u201d writer Yuka Yamada is in charge of the series scripts. Satoshi Ishino is designing the characters.<\/p>\n

\u258d<\/strong><\/span>Main Cast<\/h4>\n

The five main cast members are forming a unit named Smewthie, and their first single will launch digitally on 22nd March. The anime project previously opened a casting audition to fill the role of protagonist Ichigo Momomiya, which attracted over 3,000 applicants.<\/p>\n

\u258d<\/strong><\/span>Synopsis<\/h4>\n

In Tokyo, Japan, a young girl named Ichigo Momomiya attends an endangered species exhibit with her “crush” Masaya Aoyama. After an earthquake, Ichigo and four other girls are bathed in a strange light. A cat appears before Ichigo, then merges with her.<\/p>\n

The next day, she begins acting like a cat and making cat puns. After meeting Ry\u00f4 Shirogane and Keiichir\u00f4 Akasaka, Ichigo learns that she was infused with the DNA of the Iriomote cat. Ryou and Keiichirou explain that this allows her to transform into Mew Ichigo, a powerful heroic cat girl. She is ordered to defeat Chimera Animas\u2014alien parasites which infect animals and turn them into monsters. Also she has to find the four other girls from the exhibit\u2014the remaining Mew Mews and protect the earth from the alien\u2019s attacks.<\/p>\n
