Rumiko Takahashi\u2019s Urusei Yatsura<\/a> romantic comedy manga has confirmed a new TV anime adaptation in 2022. The new anime series will run for 4 cours in Fuji TV\u2019s Noitamina programme block. The first part will premiere in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series tells the story of Ataru Moroboshi, and the alien Lum, who believes she is Ataru’s wife after he accidentally proposes to her. The manga  was serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Sh\u014dnen Sunday from 1978 to 1987 and was later published in 34 tank\u014dbon volumes. It was adapted into a TV anime aired from 1981 to 1986 with Toshio Furukawa voiced as Ataru and Fumi Hirano voiced as Lum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new anime series is a project celebrating the 100 anniversary of Shogakukan, and features a completely new cast, including Hiroshi Kamiya as Ataru and Sumire Uesaka as Lum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind\u2019s director Hideya Takahashi and Yasuhiro Kimura are directing the new anime at david production, and Cells at Work!\u2019s script writer Yuuko Kakihara is overseeing the series scripts. Naoyuki Asano is designing the characters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The manga\u2019s author Rumiko Takahashi also revealed a new illustration to celebrate the announcement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
