Doujin circle Spicy Tails, set up by Light novel Spice and Wolf’s author Isuna Hasekura, reveals first-person VR anime Project LUX.
Project LUX is a 65 minute VR anime made up of 5 chapters. The story background is a future where humans are mostly computerized. While entertainments are all created by AI, a person called the Agent asks a girl who still create things by herself to make a computer program, and with that the story begins.
It’s different from most VR animes which are in third person perspective. Audience of Project LUX will be watching the anime from the perspective of the Agent. They will take the role of the Agent and visit the LUX household. It is possible to walk around the map freely. The story slowly unfolds as the Agent’s conversation with LUX progresses.
The protagonist LUX is voiced by Aimi Tanaka, who is known for her role as Umaru Doma in Himouto! Umaru-chan. Beside voice acting, Project LUX’s 3D characters are also portrayed by Tanaka.
Project LUX is compatible with mainstream VR gears like PSVR/Oculus Rift/HTC Vive and supports Japanese, English and Chinese. It will be released shortly before the end of 2016.
