Officials announced a new Code Gease Lelouch of the Rebellion anime project in yesterday (27 November) Code Gease’s 10th anniversary event.
Code Gease Lelouch of the Rebellion is a TV anime series with original screenplays produced by Sunrise 10 years ago. It has been well received for its tragic plot. After the second season ended, whether the protagonist Lelouch dies has been the biggest mystery in the series and concerning fans ever since. In yesterday event, director Gorō Taniguchi and screenwriter Ichirō Ōkouchi confirmed that Lelouch would be in the upcoming sequel. Events in the sequel happen a few years subsequent to those in the second season. They said they were not sure if it would be a TV anime series or a anime movie, but one thing for sure is that Lelouch is alive.

Officials also announced three compilation movies combining of plots from the first and second season in yesterday event. It will also consist of brand new scenes that were not made into the TV anime series. As the voice actor, Kazunari Tanaka, who portrayed Shinichiro Tamaki in the series passed away earlier this year, there will be a new voice actor for this character. The first compilation movie will be released in 2017.
