Omoha everyone! This is Azerith. How is everyone going? Me? The weather in Shuma Sekkai is becoming rather unpredictable, I have to stay undercover quite a bit due to the heavy rainfall, storm and lightning. I can’t believe she went through all of this by herself before…
Anyway, my sensor picked up a new feed, and after I traced back the feed, I discovered this new smart phone app game called Soul Reverse Zero. [T.S.U.K.O.M.I: Legendary Otaku Mascot detected: Miko (巫女) – shrine maiden!]
About the Creator
Forged by SEGA, one of the most dominant Game Company in Japan and around the world. Did you know the name SEGA was originally an abbreviation for the official company name Service Games when it was established back in 1960? Started off as an arcade/home console developer, SEGA produced over 500 games in over 70 franchises on more than 20 different arcade system boards since 1981*. SEGA itself went through two strategic changes in operational direction throughout its lifespan. Due to the failure of the home console Dreamcast, from 2001, SEGA was forced to shift the company focus and became a third-party developer for console such as PlayStation and Gameboys instead. Witnessing the significant drop of sales in packaged games across the world, SEGA began to reposition itself into the PC and smartphone market. If memory served me right, the very first connection I personally encountered in Shuma Sekkai was a smartphone game app called Chain Chronicle. It has been three years since the first day I ventured through the continent of Yggd (ユグド大陸), and I still do today. After taking a piece of the gamers’ mind with a couple of extremely successful titles such as Hortensia Saga, PuyoPuyo Quest, Ange Vierge Battlegirls and Sen no Kaizoku, SEGA had definitely secured itself a seat in the new generation gaming industry.

About the game
Soul Reverse Zero is a real-time battle RPG, with city building element. An increasing amount of real-time based battle game had been introduced to the smartphone game app market. Retrospectively speaking, turn-based battle game can no longer provide the stimulating and intenseness level gamers seek nowadays. I would also like to believe that game developers wanted players to devote more attention to their game for a longer period of time. [T.S.U.K.O.M.I: ‘The more attention the player devotes to a game, the more likely he/she will initiate an in-game purchase transaction,’ by $EGA]

The story took place on the continent of Granidia. Blessed by the ancient magical artifact Relic, human and many other species are able to thrive on this bountiful land filled with nature’s gift. On a peaceful morning in the Town of Flora, Malcot, our protagonist Aren and his friends bumped into the Relic Maiden of Malcot, Ruche, who seemed to be in a hurry. When Aren gave a hand to help her up, their contact unleashed flashes of memories in Ruche’s head.
[T.S.U.K.O.M.I: Isn’t this the famous encounter pattern!? A high school girl with a piece of bread in her mouth, rushed out on the street and bumped into one of her male classmate!]
Ruche’s request to evacuate the village confused the Malcot Militia Squad, which includes Aren and his friends; until a group of unknown monsters showed up right behind Ruche. Normal human beings were no match for the monsters, however, Aren seemed to be the only one who was able to stand against them.
One by one, the villagers turned into a stream of red codes. Arriving in front of the Relic, Ruche was trying to summon the Great Spirit from the past as she know that’s the only way to defeat those monster. Though things did not go according to plan, Ruche needed the power of the Lord of Soul to materialise the spirit.
Aren finally caught up with Ruche, and found her in a sticky situation as she was about to be attacked by a monster. Reaching out his left hand, the monster who came in contact with Aren’s hand was decoded – vanished. [T.S.U.K.O.M.I: Wait a minute…Imagine Breaker!?]
Kamijou Touma: That’s my right hand…
Ruche immediately recognised that was the power of the Lord, and without hesitation, she began to chant the summoning again, and this time…
The Great Spirits
Categorised in three element, Sol (Sun), Luna (Moon) and Tera (Mountain), the Great Spirits are based on characters from different mythologies, legends and folklores. To name a few,
Scáthach, Queen of the Shadow Kingdom from the Irish Mythology
Brynhildr, Shieldmaiden and Valkyrie from the Germanic Mythology
Canidia, The potion and poison maker from the Roman poetry
However, my favourite would be the Arthur and his knights of the round table.
T.S.U.K.O.M.I: Er…Why is Arthur in R-Rank…?

One of the features I love about Soul Reverse Zero is the fully-voiced storyline. I mean, getting T.S.U.K.O.M.I to translate the content of the story is great, but having some of my favourite voice actors to play the story for me is even better. However this feature is only available in Main Story and some Event Story, but I am not complaining at all.
Each Great Spirit has his/her unique Leader Skill, Action Ability and Soul Art. The rarer the Great Spirit, the more abilities it has. Players can unlock extra passive ability by awakening the Great Spirit with specific items.
The preferred position of the Great Spirit is located on the top left corner of the banner. When players unlock the battle formation function, additional damage and advantage will be available if the Great Spirit is positioned correctly.
After completing chapter 1, players will unlock the town building feature in the game. Players are expected to rebuild the Town of Flora, Malcot, and doing that will provide the player with bonus party abilities, golds and other resources. [T.S.U.K.O.M.I: Pretty much like White Cat, get it?]
The Battle System
All battles are real-time fashion. The Great Spirits will perform auto attacks on their own as time goes. When the cool down is completed, players can activate the Active Skill of the Great Spirit. Active Skill is extremely useful when enemy monster is charging for a powerful attack, as it can BREAK the enemy monster and render it into a weakened state which take extra damage on any following attack. After defeating an enemy, there is a chance it will drop Skill Point (SP), gather SP for the Great Spirit to unleash their ultimate Soul Art which deals tons of damage. [T.S.U.K.O.M.I: …Phreak?] Please be aware the Great Spirit can only use Soul Art ONCE in every battle, [T.S.U.K.O.M.I: not every stage, as one battle usually has 3 stages] however the use of Active Skill is not restricted.
Personally I love the graphic of the Soul Arts, SEGA is pretty thoughtful as it prepared unique 3D-animation for each Soul Art of each individual Great Spirit.
Just a tip for you all, when you activate the AUTO function in battle, your party will use Active Skill freely, but the AI will not use Soul Art unless players manually activate it.
Sometime a mission will appear in battle, most likely in a Boss battle. Completing the battle will give you bonus damage against the Boss monster. However, this is a double-edge sword as failing to complete the mission will result in the Boss monster using a powerful skill on your team. [T.S.U.K.O.M.I: No Pain, No Gain.]
I always have faith in SEGA and its games, so I am definitely going to enjoy this game and I am also looking forward to the upcoming new features and additional storylines. Like I mentioned before, the battle graphic is amazing and the battle system of Soul Reverse Zero has a lot of potential for strategic play due to its real-time based feature. I have to say I don’t have great luck when it comes to GACHA, but this game is very generous with GACHA as it provide a lot of GACHA ticket and gemstone (in-game currency) right at the beginning of the game.

Opps, looks like the connection is getting worst. The download link of the game can be found in below.
To be honest I am looking forward to how the story unfold. The clumsy Relic Maiden Ruche reminded me of her and I wish I got the power of the Lord of Soul; because if I did, I…wo..u..nd….ha..v.e…be…e..n..a..bl…e…to….sav….e..h…e.r.
