Chi: Chikyū no Undō ni Tsuite Historical Manga Gets Anime Adaptation by Madhouse

Written and illustrated by Uoto, the historical manga Chi: Chikyū no Undō ni Tsuite (Chi: About the Movement of the Earth) is receiving an anime adaptation produced by Madhouse. A new illustration featuring the comments of Uoto was revealed at Weekly Big Comic Spirits No. 30 released on June 27.

The series is set in 15th-century Poland. Scholars who suggest ideas such as that the Earth revolves around the Sun are considered heretics and are tortured or burned at stake.

Chi: Chikyū no Undō ni Tsuite was serialized in Shogakukan’s manga magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits from September 14, 2020 to April 18, 2022.Shogakukan has collected its chapters into individual tankōbon volumes with seven volumes released as of March 30, 2022. The manga’s eighth and final volume will publish on June 30.

The manga was nominated for the 14th Manga Taishō in 2021 and placed second. It was also nominated for the Next Manga Award in 2021 and placed tenth in the print category.  It ranked 2nd on Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2022 list of best manga for male readers. The manga has been nominated for the 46th Kodansha Manga Award in the general category in 2022 and won the 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2022.
