Thanks to the community’s support, love, and demand, Fumita Yanagida’s romantic comedy, Tomo-chan is a Girl! is finally getting a TV anime adaptation! The announcement also unveiled an official trailer, a key visual, staff, and cast members! The anime will debut in January 2023!
Rie Takahashi is cast as Aizawa Tomo in Japanese, and Lexi Nieto as Aizawa Tomo in the English dub. Kaito Ishikawa as Junichirou Kubota, Sally Amaki as Carol Olston in both English and Japanese dubs, and Rina Hidaka as Misuzu Gundou.
Tomo-Chan is web manga series written by Fumita Yanagida about Aizawa Tomo, who loves her childhood friend and Judo partner, Junichirou Kubota. Unfortunately for Tomo, Jun doesn’t see her as a girl! The series comedically goes through how Tomo tries to get Jun to see her as a girl and her hijinks with her new friends!

Tomo-chan is a girl! Follows high school girl Aizawa Tomo, tomboy, judo enthusiast, and an absolute monster in strength as she confesses her feelings to her childhood sweetheart, Junichirou Kubota! Unfortunately for her, Junichirou’s been hanging out with Tomo for so long, that he can’t see her as anything but a guy, even when wearing a skirt! The series follows the two, and Tomo’s friends as she tries to convince Jun that she is a girl, and be in a real relationship, despite Tomo knowing nothing about what it’s like!
The series won the Next Manga Award in 2016, in the web manga category.
