As many cat lovers may know, August 8 is International Cat Day! To celebrate, a super adorable cat-themed 3D ad for Pokémon GO will be displayed on the Cross Shinjuku Vision located at the east exit of JR Shinjuku Station from August 8 to September 5!
Any Pokémon that are felines in any way will appear on the screen. Watch out for the dynamic 3D Pokémon as they show off their moves and jump out of the billboard! An in-game event will also be held in the Pokémon Go app.
For those who are unaware, the Cross Shinjuku is just one of the many 3D-style screen ads, where through some optical illusions, it is as if the elements of the ad “come alive” in a sense. If that sounds familiar, then you might’ve heard of Omotesando, which uses similar technology.
This screen in Shinjuku was particularly known for its viral cat ads, but it will now temporarily to various cat-related ads from Pokémon Go except on August 22, where it will have maintenance performed. The full list of Pokémon this applies to is as follows: Meowth, Alolan Meowth, Garal Meowth, Eneko, Nyarma, Choroneko, Nyasper, and Nyabi. Here are some pictures you can expect to see. (Please note that they are from the ideal viewing angle.)
