The long-awaited live action Gintama (銀魂) has finally released its second trailer. Compared to previous previews, this one is a minute long and showcases different characters in action.
Live-action Gintama is set in the Edo period of Japan. The plot is based off the Benizakura Arc (紅桜篇) from the original Gintama. In this arc, Katsura Kotaro is attacked by Kiheitai, a terrorist group lead by Takasgi Shinsuke who is a childhood friend of Katsura and Gintoki. The Yorozuya trio (Gintoki, Shinpachi and Kagura) then go searching for him and the searching eventually turns into bloodshed.
Gintama is adapted from the manga of the same title, which is illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi (空知英秋) and serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The story revolves around the Yorozuya trio and their daily lives in Edo.
The movie will premiere on 14th July, 2017 and a three-episode drama will air on 15th July.
