Red Barrels showed off a new gameplay trailer for The Outlast Trials at Gamescom 2022 and announced that the first-person, psychological horror title is holding a closed beta test for the game on Steam beginning on October 28, to Nov 1, 2022.
Players can play the closed beta by themselves, or with friends in this hellish nightmare of an experiment. You will be thrust into the world as a subject of the Murkoff corporation, with mental and physical horrors thrust upon you, as you try to make your way out of the Murkoff facility alone, or with your team.

Set in the era of the Cold War, Outlast Trials pits you as an unfortunate test subject of the Murkoff corporation, in the Murkoff Facility. With both powers of the world trying to find a way to one-up the other, the Murkoff corporation is tasked with finding advanced methods of brainwashing, and population control. Your will, sanity, and physical limits will be tested, all in the name of science, progress, and profit.
