Pony Canyon started streaming the second teaser trailer for the Gridman Universe anime film, revealing more cast members and that the anime will be officially debuting in Japan on March 24, 2023. Two new key arts were also revealed.
Akira Amemiya is directing the film at Studio Trigger. Keiichi Hasegawa is handling the screenplay, while Shiro Sagisu is composing the music. Masaru Sakamoto is the character designer.
Gridman Universe is a completely original film that miraculously crossovers the characters and worldviews of SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon, with Studio TRIGGER combining the two.
In SSSS.Gridman, the story focuses on Yūta Hibiki, an amnesiac first-year high school student living in the fictional Japanese city of Tsutsujidai. He meets the Hyper Agent Gridman in an old computer, who states that the boy has a mission he must fulfill; Yūta sets out to find the meaning of those words and his memory loss.
In SSSS.Dynazenon, the story instead follows Fujiyokidai High first-year student Yomogi Asanaka meets Gauma, who claims to be a kaiju user. When a kaiju attacks the city, Gauma summons the giant robot Dynazenon and his classmates are caught up in the battle. Their encounter with the kaiju marks the beginning of their entanglement with kaiju eugenicists.
