The summer anime films tradition of an annual release of a Crayon Shin-chan film for next year sees a different spin on events, as the titular five-year-old Shinnosuke “Shin” Nohara hits the wide screen in 3D.

With the title: “Shin Jigen! Crayon Shin-chan The Movie Chōnōryoku Dai Kessen: Tobetobe Temakizushi” (New Dimension! Crayon Shin-chan the Movie Great Psychokinetic Battle: Leaping Handroll Sushi), the film will be the 31st of its kind and is announced to be animated entirely in 3DCG and arriving in summer 2023.

The teaser clip posted on Toho’s official Youtube channel briefly shows Shin-chan fully realized in 3D, sporting a yellow and purple attire along with a flowing green cape. Outside of the apparent intrigue shown in how he points towards what one would assume to be the literal shin jigen (new dimension) for the franchise, not much was shown.

Shin-chan’s series of films have always featured titles that are a mouthful; this time around, it’s no different, with fans already questioning what the leaping handroll sushi in the title could possibly mean. Nonetheless, fans of the series are excited to see their beloved, rambunctious eldest son of the Nohara family sporting an all-new look.
