Kotei Kobayashi’s The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess comedy light novel series is getting a television anime adaptation scheduled to premiere sometime in 2023. Along with the announcement, a teaser trailer, a key visual for the anime series, and a special visual by Riichu, the light novel’s original character designer, were also revealed.
The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess is a fantasy comedy about Terakomari Gandesblood, aka Komari, a member of the prestigious noble Gandesblood family and also a vampire that can’t drink blood.
Tomori Kusunoki will continue to play the role of Komari as in the manga’s PV, while Sayumi Suzushiro will play the role of Villhaze, the maid who supports Komari in her private and public life, and Youko Hikasa will play the role of Karen Helvetius, the Empress of the Mulnite Empire.
Tatsuma Minamikawa will direct the anime, with series composition by Keiichirou Oochi, character design by Tomoyuki Shitaya, music by Gou Shiina, and animation production by studio Project No.9.

The second daughter of the Gandesblood family, a prestigious noble family, she has enjoyed a shut-in life for three years but was appointed by the Empress herself as a general of the Mulnite imperial army. Although she is a vampire, is not good with blood, so she can’t use magic and has stopped growing. Her favorite food is rice omelet.

Komari’s assigned personal maid, while basically following her orders most of the time, sometimes takes the initiative and maneuvers Komari to escape. She’s a bit of a sexual harasser.

The empress of the Mulnite Empire. She has an uninhibited and elusive personality and appoints Komali as general for the seventh unit of the Mulnite Imperial Army. She has a very easygoing attitude toward Komari and even kissed her while sleeping.

The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess is a Japanese light novel series written by Kotei Kobayashi and illustrated by Riichu. SB Creative began publishing the series on January 11, 2020, with nine volumes to date. A manga adaptation by the novel’s illustrator began serialization in Monthly Big Gangan in December 2021.
Terakomari Gandesblood, or Komari for short, is a vampire that can’t drink blood and is a member of the prestigious Gandesblood family.
