The upcoming theatrical release of the Psycho-Pass Providence movie just released its first teaser trailer, and along with that revealed the movie’s theme songs!
The film’s theme song will be “Alexi Thymias Spare” by Ling Tosite Sigure, and the ending theme song will be Egoist’s “Tojisha” (当事者). You may recognize these two groups as they previously produced songs for Psycho-Pass, and their songs were the series’ very first opening and ending theme songs!
Psycho-Pass Providence is set to make its debut in Japanese cinemas on May 12.
▍About Psycho-Pass Providence
Psycho-Pass Providence is a prequel movie set between the events of Psycho-Pass In the Realm Beyond, and Psycho-Pass 3 based on the list of characters showing up in the film’s key visual.
Set in a futuristic Japan, the country is governed by a system known as Sibyl. The system monitors the health, and mental state of a citizen by scanning their body and cross-referencing it with their current mood, and previous criminal record. When a person’s activity reaches a threshold, they are deemed a threat to public safety and are neutralized, either with non-lethal, or lethal force.
In a world governed by data where all are under the watchful eyes of the system, young Inspector Akane Tsunemori is assigned to Division one of the Public Safety Bureau to watch over its operations. When on her first mission she stops Shinya Kogami, an Enforcer of the Bureau, and stops him from killing a suspect, she agrees to stay with him in an effort to stop crime and apprehend Shogo Makishima, a criminal mastermind who manages to avoid being labeled a criminal by the system.
