Surgeon Elise Fantasy Manhwa is Getting a TV Anime Adaptation

A television anime adaptation based on the Korean fantasy manhwa Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp, written by yuin and illustrated by mini, has been announced under the title Surgeon Elise. The anime’s teaser visual and staff information for the anime adaptation was also revealed.

Kumiko Habara is directing the anime series, with series composition by Hitomi Mieno, and character design by Hiroko Watanabe. Maho Film is handling the animation production.

To commemorate the anime adaptation, the anime staff has revealed an Illustration of Elise de Clorance and Linden de Romanoff, the main characters, by the manhwa character designer, mini.

About Surgeon Elise

Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp is a South-Korean web novel written by yuin. It was serialized in Kakao’s KakaoPage service from December 2015 to April 2016. A manhwa adaptation illustrated by mini was serialized in KakaoPage from September 2017 to February 2021. The series was published digitally in English as Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp by Tappytoon on November 23, 2018.

The novel is about a girl named Elise who keeps being reincarnated and already goes on her third life. In her first life, she was executed as an evil empress, in her second life, she becomes a surgeon in modern times to make amends for her mistakes. One day Elise is sent back to her first life due to an unfortunate accident. Utilizing her knowledge of modern medicine, she starts again looking for redemption.
