It looks like Soichiro Yamamoto’s Teasing Master Takagi-san manga series is getting a live-action series!

This reveal was seemingly leaked early certain online retailers such as animate and 7net shopping put up listings for the special edition of Takagi-San’s 19th volume. On this listing, the manga had a wraparound jacket of it that said: “Live-Action Confirmed!” Shortly after this image made the rounds on social media, the websites took down the image from the listing, as it seems to have been a mistake to announce the live-action adaptation before its release date on March 10.

There are currently no details on who will be playing the role of Nishikata or Takagi, though it will be kind of weird to see Takagi-san not being portrayed by Takahashi Rie whose voice is practically synonymous with Takagi-san.

About Teasing Master Takagi-San

Takagi-San is a manga series written and illustrated by Sōichirō Yamamoto, whose distinct art style and rom-com storytelling is also featured in When Will Ayumu Make His Move?, and In the Heart of Kunoichi Tsubaki, Fudatsuki Kyoko-chan, and more. The series inspired an anime adaptation, and also a game called Teasing Master Takagi-san: Kyunkyun Records.

The series follows middle school students Nishikata and Takagi (their first names aren’t revealed), the pair sit next to each other in school and Takagi often teases Nishikata with embarrassing pranks and jokes. Each chapter follows the two as Takagi pranks Nishikata, or Nishikata thinks of a way to get back at her only to usually fail spectacularly.

As the series goes on the Nishikat grows closer to Takagi, and the pair start to become more than just friends that hang out together, though neither will admit it outright.
