Yashichiro Takahashi’s (高橋 弥七郎) light novel series Shakugan no Shana (灼眼のシャナ) is making an unexpected comeback after 4 years of absence. According to a leaked promotional picture surfaced online, the new work is going to be a novel.
The light novel was published in 2002 and has got 22 volumes as well as 4 spin-off stories so far. In 2005, it was adapted into a TV anime series. The huge popularity received has resulted in 3 more seasons and an anime movie.
Shakugan no Shana centres on Yuji Sakai, a dead high school student who possesses a special power that leads the race of Crimson Denizen to go after him. He is then involved in a series of conflicts, but his encounter Shana, a Flame Blaze heroine wielding a katana, changes everything.
