The My Happy Marriage anime based on Akumi Agitogi’s light novel released the official trailer for the anime with English captions, while also revealing that it is premiering on July 5.
The anime’s opening theme song is “Stay by Your Side” (貴方の側に) performed by Riria. The anime has also cast Ryohei Kimura as Arata Tsurugi, the son of the head of the Usuba family and Miyo’s cousin. The series is also being streamed on Netflix on the same date.

My Happy Marriage is a light novel series written by Akumi Agitogi and illustrated by Rito Kohsaka. Initially published online the series was later acquired by Fujimi Shobo and has since been published under the brand’s Fujimi L Bunko prints, with its seventh volume coming on July 14, 2023, and its 4th English volume coming on June 20. The series also received a live-action adaptation which managed to hit #1 at the Japanese box office when it debuted.
The series takes place in an alternate-reality version of 19th-century Japan during the Meiji Restoration era. In this period many are born with supernatural powers, but the protagonist Miyo Samori is born without such talents, and thus is forced to live in servitude by her abusive stepmother. When she’s finally of age to be married, she’s sent to Kiyoda Kudou, an army commander whose reputation paints him as a cold and cruel man, so much so that all of his previous fiancees have left within days before their marriage.
Resigning herself to a life of solace and pain, Miyo quickly finds out that her husband is actually much kinder than the rumors paint him to be, and the pair realize that this marriage may be their one shot at finding true love in a world full of hardships.
