Written by Shin Araki and illustrated by Haruyuki Morisawa, the series was novelized in twelve volumes from January 2015 under Shueisha’s Dash X Bunko imprint as a light novel. A manga adaptation with art by Takashi Minakuchi titled Eiyū Kyōshitsu: Honoo no Empress was serialized in Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine between February and August 2015 and was collected in a single tankōbon volume. A second manga adaptation illustrated by Koara Kishida was serialized via Square Enix’s Monthly Shōnen Gangan in September 2016. The series is ongoing and currently has 15 tankōbon volumes under its belt.

Classroom for Heroes follows the story of Arnest Flaming, a girl with a high sense of duty and the top student at the academy, receiving the alias Empress of Flames. One day, she encounters the lively, carefree new transfer student Blade, a boy who seems to equal her in power, which she finds really irritating yet oddly captivating.

Soon, she discovers that the strange student was none other than the hero who fell the demon lord who plunged the world into darkness. With his powers waning from his time as the chosen one, Blade has but one wish after having saved the world… To live an ordinary life.
