It was announced that Dr. Stone New World, the third season of the anime adaptation of Riichiro Inagaki’s adventure manga, will continue Senkū’s exciting journey in its second cour in October 2023. The announcement comes on the heels of the airing of the final episode of the first cour on June 15.
The anime’s staff also released the anime music video of its first cour’s opening theme, “Wasuregataki” (ワスレガタキ) by Huwie Ishizaki. Directed by Shūhei Matsushita, the MV links the song lyrics to some of the signature scenes from Dr. Stone Season 3.
Director Shūhei Matsushita shared an enthusiastic comment about creating the MV, expressing how impressed he was with the full-length version of “Wasuregataki”. He noted that the emotional part of the song, which was not used in the anime opening, struck him so deeply that he was compelled to pitch the idea of creating an anime version MV to the producer. After months of efforts from various quarters, the MV was finally completed and is now available for viewing on the Toho Animation YouTube channel.
Dr. Stone: New World aired its first part from April 6 to June 15, 2023. The season follows protagonist Senkū Ishigami and his team as they embark on a global expedition to track down the origin of the mysterious green light that turned humanity to stone. While they are securing supplies for the groundbreaking reinvention of the GPS system, a disturbing message from an unknown source motivates Senkū to intensify his exploration and scientific research in the New World.
Despite the uncertainties and potential dangers that may arise, Senkū, with his unwavering faith in science, is ready to face any challenge. The team’s quest is crucial, as they need platinum to produce more revival fluid after the destruction of the miracle cave. Their quest leads them to Treasure Island, where they encounter a new population that holds the power of petrification.
