Right after the conclusion of its first season on July 1, the Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku anime series has confirmed that a second season is on the way.

The promotional video unveiled alongside the announcement looks back at the iconic scenes from the first season and showcases the new character Yamada Asaemon Shugen, who made his debut in the final episode. The new season will delve deeper into Gabimaru’s wife and the new executioners landing on the island.

Written and illustrated by Yūji Kaku, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku was serialized on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ application and website from January 2018 to January 2021. The series has been translated into English and published in North America by Viz Media since May 17, 2018. The first season of the anime adaptation, produced by MAPPA, aired from April to July 2023, with the second season confirmed for production.

The series centers around Gabimaru the Hollow, a ninja with a superhuman body who is sentenced to death but seemingly cannot be killed. In his quest for death, Gabimaru meets executioner Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, who presents him with an opportunity for pardon. This pardon, however, comes with a catch: Gabimaru must find the elixir of life in Shinsenkyo, a newly discovered legendary realm southwest of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Gabimaru, alongside a group of death-row convicts and their accompanying executioners, embarks on this perilous journey, setting the stage for a tale of survival, mystery, and the struggle for immortality.
