Japanese adult game development studio Illusion announced on its official Twitter and website, that the studio is going under and will be discontinuing development and the sale of all of its products on August 31, 2023.
The studio was founded on April 21, 2001, meaning the studio was up and running for the last 22 years until its shutdown came later the next month. The company did not state the reason for its shutdown.
The shutdown notice mentioned a timeline in August leading up to its shutdown, including the end of its Illusion Online download sales, then on August 18 it will be shutting down its purchase and pre-order functions on its Illusion Online platform. On August 31 the company will officially shut down and cease all operations, and then on September 19 the website’s “My Page” function will go down as well. Players that have made any purchases on the site will have until September 19 to download their purchased titles, after that, it will no longer be accessible.

The studio is notable for its work on Eroges with 3D Graphics. Many of its titles were only available in Japan, but after partnering with the English erotic game storefront FAKKU, Illusion began to release more of its games with translations, and on store platforms like Steam in multiple languages.
Illusion’s notable games from the last decade include Honey Select, Koikatsu, VR Kanojo, the first-ever game the company released in native English.
