Arc System Works unveiled during Evo 2023 that Guilty Gear Strive Season 3 will be arriving on August 24, and with the launch of the new season, the first character from Season Pass 3 will also be released, fan-favorite Johnny!
Johnny will be introduced at the start of the Guilty Gear Strive Season 3 which comes with a major battle update, introducing two new major system mechanics in the form of Wild Assault and Deflect shield, both requiring the use of the burst gauge instead of the Tension Gauge. Season 3 will also bring with it new stages, character colors, and 4 new characters in total between 2023 and 2024.

Season 3 means brand new special moves for various characters for the first time! At the start of season 6, the characters May, Faust, Ramlethal Valentine, and Anji Mito will have access to a new special move that helps to mix up their offense and gives them more capabilities in the neutral game.
The new special moves will be added to the initial roster of characters, and more characters will receive love in future Guilty Gear Strive updates.
A brand new system mechanic was also introduced in Wild Assault. This mechanic lets you cancel attacks and block-stun into a lunging attack that sends you toward your opponent, letting you quickly close the gap on them. The move requires at least 50% of your burst gauge before it can be used.
Deflect shield is also a new defensive mechanic, and at a similar cost to Wild Assault lets you immediately deflect any attack that comes your way, essentially making you immune to any wild mixups from your opponent to take back your turn!

The leader of the Jellyfish Pirates and bane of Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator 2 players, the world-class outlaw returns with his trade style Hirofumi Style of swordsmanship, still rocking his mantra of “Help the weak and sprain the strong” which made him and his group popular among the masses.
Johnny returns in Guilty Gear Strive with his host of large normals and tricky special moves including his famous Mist Stance, which leads into his Mist Finer special attacks or cancels them to reduce the recovery of many of his pokes while letting him gain distance or strike from several angles.
Notably during the trailer Johnny was not seen tossing any coins and seems to have a new special attack that jumps over lows while advancing him forward slightly and letting him strike into a combo starter.
